About Us

The Dane County Lived Experience Council (LEC) is a collective of individuals who have personally navigated homelessness, ensuring that those directly impacted have a voice in shaping the policies and programs meant to serve them. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, we work to create a more just and effective response to homelessness.

Our mission

Our mission is to ensure that those who have experienced homelessness have real power in shaping the systems that affected us and continue to impact others today. We challenge injustice, advocate for real change, and will actively use our seat at the table—because no decisions about us should be made without us.

Vision

We see a Dane County where lived experience isn’t just heard but leads the way. A community where housing is a right, support is real, and people aren’t stuck in cycles of homelessness. We strive to break barriers, shift power, and make lasting change happen.
